Feel instantly rejuvenated and ready to rock and roll.

We all have days when we are so low on energy that we cannot do anything productive.
Unless we are physically unwell, internal or external factors could cause low energy levels - kids, commute, negative self-talk, work, weather - anything could be the reason for low mood and decreased productivity.
I cheat a bit and make myself a mixture of caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee first thing in the morning.
But if you think that to boost your mood you need some special tools and techniques - let me reassure you - you won't need anything special. All the tools that you might need are either within your reach or not far at all.

6 Ideas to Energise Your Day and Boost Your Mood and Productivity
1. Have some coffee
"Everyone should believe in something. I believe I will have another coffee". - Unknown
This is a super quick fix—try it first. It will give you a quick boost of energy, but try not to overdo it, as too much caffeine might take your energy levels even further down.
I cheat a bit and make myself a mixture of caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee first thing in the morning. I find pure coffee makes me too hyper (and it stains my teeth too much). But this mixture gives me a coffee boost, I love the smell of coffee, so I still enjoy that but then I can have another cup if I fancy it.
2. Pick vitamins for your soul
"Train. Say your prayers. Eat your vitamins". - Hulk Hogan
Even though you cannot diagnose low levels of vitamins at home, it might be an idea to take a few supplements.
For instance, during winter, especially here, in the UK, many of us might suffer from low levels of vitamin D, as the sun is not a frequent visitor. So why not add a few well-researched multivitamin pillsappliced by reputable health organisations add it to your daily routine? Or try enriching your meals with items fortified with vitamins and minerals.
3. We are what we eat or food to boost your mood and productivity
“Love yourself enough to live a healthy lifestyle.” - Jules Robson
It might not a bad idea to reconsider your diet and exercise level to eliminate it as a potential cause of low mood. Are you eating a balanced diet? Is there enough fruit and veg on your plate? How about food rich in Omega-3? It’s a good time to start eating healthily, as it will help to boost your energy levels. Healthy food has tons of nutrients, and it will sure thing help you improve your overall health.
I have started eating protein rich food for breakfast because I am not getting younger and all that jazz… but I’ll tell you that I feel more productive in the morning as a result of all those eggs and cottage cheese consumed.
4. Enjoy your H2O
“Water is the driving force of all nature.” - Leonardo da Vinci
Are you hydrated enough? Your energy might be in direct correlation with hydration.
Water is the simplest way to re-energise ourselves and boost our mood.
Try drinking around 2 litres per day or adjust it to suit your needs.
It does not need to be straight water. You could mix it up by adding lemon to it. Lemon has vitamin C, so it will add extra health benefits. Herbal teas are also an excellent substitute for water if you don’t like the bland taste.
Caffeinated drinks do not really count, I am afraid, as caffeine dehydrates your body. Unless you use decaf to trick yourself and pretend you are having caffeine. Then it’s fine (that’s what I do).
5. Choose the best music for your ears
"Music can have a profound effect on mood, including confidence level or how relaxed you are". - Corrina Thurston, How To Communicate Effectively
This one is easy and available to so many of us.
The research has shown that music has a calming effect, especially slow and classical.
But I suggest that you put something like boogie on instead. Start by simply enjoying the rhythm. Then get out of your comfort zone and start dancing (unless you are in the middle of an office, on a plane or any other public place). It's totally optional, but you could consider recording your dance moves, and who knows, it might go viral and turn you into a star. Becoming an overnight internet celebrity should help your energy levels for sure.
I remember feeling very down for some reason and my kids were watching Supertatoe. The theme music is so catchy that I started singing along and then did a silly dance to the sheer amusement of my then 5 and 2 year-olds. My 5 year-old then came to me and then: “Please stop, mummy!” 🤣😭 But it did the trick, my mood was truly lifted.
6. Opt for movement
“My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She's ninety-seven now, and we don't know where the heck she is.” ― Ellen DeGeneres
This is oldie, but goodie. Never underestimate the power of good sweat producing activities. Even if you feel like it’s the last thing on your mind when your energy levels are low. Just go for it - you will feel better afterwards, that’s the mantra worth remembering.
